I know what you guys are saying, isn’t the article to soon to write before the upcoming holidays? Trust me, the holidays will be here before you know it. Here are some sure fire ways to avoid the holiday stress season.
Budget your money
The lack of enough money to purchase gifts for you love ones is definitely a buzz kill. Try to set a strict budget and use precautionary discipline when deciding on what items to purchase. If there are certain products that are too much for you budget, accept it and look for something that is more suitable.
Keep a regular schedule
Of course keeping a regular schedule during the holiday season will be an uphill battle, but it can be achieved. Set aside time for yourself, even if it is a few minutes out of your day. Make time for your daily routines. Obtaining your every day lifestyle is essential. Even if this includes reading, exercising or taking a nap. Normalcy should be your objective.
Share your holiday tasks
There are a lot of activities during the holiday season. This is not a time to try and play the superhero. You do not want to wear yourself too thin to the point where you are not enjoying the holiday with family and friends. Ask for help with cooking, putting up the Christmas tree, wrapping gifts etc. There are plenty of tasks that family members would love to help out with. Just reach out for a helping hand.
Should I buy a Christmas tree first, maybe gifts or should I start cooking on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. Make a list of tasks from most important to least important. Save your tasks on a memo app on your phone. Stay on top of your tasks by reverting back to your memo/lists.
Keep it simple
I understand, keeping it simple is easier said that done. I’ve been there. Buying too much gifts, cooking too much food, being to flashy with Christmas decorations. Just keep it simple, everything does not need to be extravagant. This is not the Macy’s Day parade. It’s about spending time with family.
Spend time with family
The main objective of holiday gatherings is to spend time with your family. Sadly this is not always the case. A lot of people totally miss the boat on this one. Of course everyone enjoys the lavish gifts, great tasting meals, lovely decorations etc.
I mentioned priorities earlier in this article. This is one of the most important priorities of all, spending time wisely with your family. Whether spending quite time conversing with one another or playing a quite board game such as checkers, make sure to push the holiday hoopla aside for a second and engage with your love ones.
