Baking soda is inexpensive, non- toxic and probably in your kitchen right now. Besides it’s uses in the kitchen, did you know it is a beauty product, too? Here is a list of 6 ways to use baking soda as a personal care product:
Use baking soda as a face scrub. Mix 1 tablespoon baking soda with 2-3 tablespoons of water. Massage this mixture on your face (avoiding the sensitive skin around your eyes) with gentle, circular motions for one minute and then rinse with warm water. The exfoliating properties of baking soda will leave your face feeling baby soft! If you have sensitive skin, try a patch test before applying to entire face to ensure the baking soda is not too drying or irritating to your face.
Use baking soda in your shampoo. Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with a tablespoon of your favorite shampoo and was your hair. This helps to strip product build up and oil from your hair. Only do this once or twice a month to prevent over drying your hair and scalp. You can also make a mixture of baking soda, castor oil and water and use as frequently as you would normally use shampoo.
Use baking soda in your bath. Simply put one-half cup baking soda in your bath water, your v skin will feel softer and smoother afterwards.
Use baking soda in a body scrub. Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 3 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of milled oatmeal. Scrub body gently and rinse.
Use baking soda as a deodorant. Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 3-5 drops of your favorite essential oil and apply it to your underarms.
Use baking soda in a mouthwash. Mix 1 teaspoon baking soda with 3 drops peppermint essential oil in a glass of water. This neutralizes bacteria and freshens breath.
