I don’t get out of town too often, so when I decided to travel back to my home town, the least of my concerns were about flight delays and poor customer service. In case you are wondering, we had a 2 hour, 4 hour, and 6 hour delay in a matter of two- three days.
While patiently waiting on flight delays during this trip, my friend and I did a few things to try and pass the time. At times it was challenging, but we managed to keep somewhat busy during the delays.
Here are 5 ways to kill time during a flight delay
Check Your Emails
If you are a very busy person and have a million things going on at once, it is hard to keep a grasp on your email flow. This includes spam and junk mail. I basically went through and cleaned up my email account. Reading important emails, deleting spam and junk mail as well. It was a long process, but I had plenty of time to kill.
Read A Book
If you are anything like myself, you are usually trying to read two or three books at a time. I would not suggest this practice. Unfortunately between writing articles, working out and other various hobbies, I tend to not read as much as I would like to. I took two books that I am currently reading with me on my flight home. One of the books I finished reading, and the other I am half way done. Luckily my designated gate area was very quiete, and I was able to read without any disturbance.
Take A Walk/Exercise
If you didn’t get a chance to get your daily workout in due to travelling arraingments, depending on the time, you could try walking around the airport. We arrived around 11:30pm. There were not many people at the airport around this time. We had plenty of room to walk. I think we walked around for about 30 minutes or so. Plus the smaller the airport, the more room there is to walk without much foot trafffic.
Meet up with A friend
Now this is one of my favorite ways to pass time during a flight delay. I once had a three hour delay in Atlanta GA. I contacted one of my childhood friends. He was happy to pick me up and escorted me around the city of Atlanta. We went out for dinner and reminisced about our early childhood memories. I enjoyed myself so much, those three hours flew by and before you know it, I was on to my next destination. Thanks for a good time Kenny.
Play a game on your cell phone
Minecraft, Angry Bird, Dudle Jump, are popular mobile phone games. I actually played Minecraft during my flight delay. My friend and I went back and forth competing against each other. We had a small wager/bet. Whoever wins at Minecraft is awarded the seat by the window on the flight home.

We were suprised of all the flight delays we encountered. My friend and I agreed that we would make the best of our flight delays by thinking positive and having fun.
